Digital Innovators is supporting the launch of the Skills Builder Universal Framework which clearly defines the skills we need to succeed in education, work and life.
With the impact of COVID-19 already hitting the most disadvantaged in our communities the hardest and changing the nature of education and work overnight, we all need to act now to ensure we do not widen the disadvantage gap.
Essential skills are highly transferable skills like listening, problem solving and teamwork – that are embedded in the Digital Innovators training programmes we offer for young people. These essential skills can, and should, be developed throughout our lives and can’t be automated out. They are the foundation for developing new technical and job-specific skills, including digital skills.
The universal framework defines the essential skills as; listening, speaking, problem solving, creativity, staying positive, aiming high, leadership and teamwork. These and other skills are woven throughout the Digital Innovators Skills Programme which has already helped to equip hundreds of 16-18 year olds with the confidence, self-belief and skills they need to launch their careers.
As a Skills Builder partner, we’re delighted to see the launch of the Universal Framework which is already being adopted by trailblazing employers including Boots, KPMG, Jacobs and Tideway, as well as our own employer partners as they look to take on new apprentices.
