Our Story
Our story began when founder, Mick Westman, retired from his successful career at BT. A more relaxed life beckoned, with perhaps a bit of management training and consultancy to keep him occupied.
However, after speaking to a number of different businesses about their struggles to find talent, and after visiting Solihull College & University Centre to talk to their team about the challenges students were facing as a result of being “different” – Mick’s passion to help young people was ignited. Instead of slowing down, Mick has been the powerhouse behind a plan to give as many young people as possible the chance to be the best they can be – and solve the UK’s ongoing skills crisis as a result.
Following a successful pilot with the college, Digital Innovators was born and has since gone from strength to strength. In 2021, we also formed Digital Innovators West Midlands Community Interest Company to further facilitate collaboration between young people and businesses in the West Midlands.
What do we do?
We work with education providers and community organisations to deliver our skills programme which is designed to enhance employability skills in young people
We facilitate collaboration between young people in the region and employers of all sizes through live work projects to produce tangible business improvements
We enable young people to become the best version of themselves that they can be and provide access to meaningful employment opportunities
